WHY CROSSWOOD
Known for its exceptional attributes like fire resistance, strength, installation flexibility, and lightweight properties, CLT is already a phenomenal product. But at Crosswood, we're going even further, creating Hardwood CLT (HCLT) products that are revolutionizing the mass timber industry. We will be the first CLT manufacturing company in Virginia and one of only two within the Northeast region. We will be the first to certify Yellow Poplar (a hardwood native to Virginia and throughout the Northeastern United States) for CLT production.
You may already know that CLT is in high-demand for commercial and residential construction. Hardwood CLT (HCLT) through Crosswood is expanding the opportunities into the Secure Safe Industry (gun safes and more), the Pre-fabricated Structure Market to include greenhouses, horse run-in sheds, small barns, and cabins as well as Department of Defense Solutions including a Crosswood ballistic wall system (Patent Pending).
CLT has a strength-to-weight ratio that's comparable to concrete, despite being five-times lighter!
Crosswood stands at the forefront, distinguished by strategic partnerships that underscore our unwavering commitment to excellence. Our collaborative efforts extend to key agencies across Virginia, securing substantial support for our establishment. Notably, pivotal alliances with industry leaders in Mass Timber, such as Bell Structural and Vaagen Timbers, exemplify our dedication to innovation and our pursuit of market leadership.
Crosswood is committed to responsible forestry practices, ensuring the sourcing of hardwood from certified Appalachian forests. Sustainability is a core value, contributing to eco-friendly and renewable construction practices. Yellow Poplar has a growth to harvest rate of 1.4 - which means that it regenerates faster than it is harvested.
